For example, hospitals, shopping malls, steel plants, airports, railways, and ports are among their usage areas.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>What Is a Metal Clad Cell?<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>A medium voltage switchgear system consisting of three main and one auxiliary compartment, separated from each other by grounded metal partitions, is called a metal clad cell. These systems also feature a draw-out type switching mechanism.<\/p>\n<p>All compartments are isolated from each other using grounded metal sheets, as full isolation is the primary objective. Thanks to safety features, advantages, interlocking systems, compartmental structure, and low voltage control, they are widely used in many applications.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.vekmar.com.tr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/metal-1024x576-1.jpeg\" width=\"741\" height=\"417\" \/><\/p>\n<h4><strong> Application Areas and Advantages of Metal Clad Cells<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Application areas include mines, cement factories, transformer stations, ports, railways, airports, chemical plants, pumping stations, hospitals, and shopping malls.<\/p>\n<p>Considering these usage areas, metal clad cells offer many advantages, such as:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Can withstand high current and short-circuit levels up to 31.5 kA for 3 seconds<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Compact design requiring less space (1200 mm width is sufficient for 36 kV applications)<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Fully isolated system due to grounded metal separation of all compartments<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Easy operation with breaker and protection control panel systems<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Draw-out switching system allowing easy panel-to-panel replacement<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.vekmar.com.tr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/eaton-ulusoy-umc-product-picture.jpeg\" alt=\"Eaton metal clad h\u00fccre\" width=\"440\" height=\"440\" \/><\/p>\n<h4><strong>Information About Metal Clad Cell Compartments<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>The compartments include cable compartment, low voltage control and command compartment, circuit breaker compartment, busbar compartment, and safety compartment.<\/p>\n<p>Safety features include pressure relief covers located at the rear and top. All operations can be performed with the panel door closed, ensuring safety. Various interlocking systems are used, including mechanical and electrical interlocks, eliminating the possibility of incorrect operation.<\/p>\n<p>The system is fully compartmentalized. Even under short-circuit conditions, multiple closing operations can be performed thanks to the earthing switch (E2 class).<\/p>\n<p>The busbar compartment is the section that provides energy transfer between panels and consists of conductors capable of withstanding high current and short-circuit conditions.<\/p>\n<p>The cable compartment contains voltage transformers, different types of current measurement devices, and earthing switches. It also includes epoxy bushings enabling transition to the circuit breaker compartment.<\/p>\n<p>Control and measurement devices are located in the low voltage control compartment. These components are housed in a grounded metal enclosure to prevent damage to equipment and personnel during faults.<\/p>\n<p>The circuit breaker compartment includes medium voltage switching elements, draw-out truck systems, busbars, metal partitions separating compartments, and other components.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Metal Clad Cell Interlocking Systems<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Interlocking systems play a crucial role in <em><strong>metal clad cells<\/strong><\/em>, ensuring operational safety.<\/p>\n<p>Mechanical and electrical interlocks enhance system safety.<\/p>\n<p>Mechanical interlocking ensures that the circuit breaker door can only be opened when in test position. The breaker truck cannot be moved to service position without proper panel fixation. The breaker door requires low voltage control cable connection before closing.<\/p>\n<p>When the earthing switch is opened, the breaker truck can be inserted. If the breaker is in service position, the earthing switch cannot be closed.<\/p>\n<p>Electrical interlocks include breaker, incoming feeder rear door, and outgoing feeder rear door operations. For example, the breaker must be in test or service position for control operations.<\/p>\n<p>To open the incoming feeder rear door, upstream energy must be disconnected.
